samples

can i see samples of the pre designed collection?

of course! you can purchase samples here. each sample pack comes with all four different paper options as well as a calligraphed envelope, and digitally printed return addressing. at this time, i am not able to provide samples of letterpress printing or foil finishing, though i can attest to the quality of those styles! if you want your sample pack to have a mix of the different suites, please just email emily@emilyahowell.com with the suites you are looking for and please put your order number in the subject line.

can i see samples of custom work?

all of my custom work is from prior clients of mine so my samples are limited! if you live in the boston area, i would be more than happy to set up an in-person meeting with you to discuss designs and i bring in any samples i have.

timeline and process

How far in advance should I order invitations from the pre designed collection?

to give enough time for design, edits, and production, you should order your pre designed invitations 6-8 weeks prior to when you want to mail out your invitations. if you are worried that there isn't enough time, please contact me because there are always expediting options!

how far in advance should i order custom invitations?

custom orders take a bit longer than the pre designed collection so please reach out as soon as possible to reserve the time in my schedule. if you think you waited a bit too long, please still contact me, there is always a chance we can work something out!

how far in advance should i order save the dates?

save the dates should be ordered as soon as you book your venue. traditionally, save the dates are sent out at least 6 months prior to the event.

how many invitation suites should i order?

i would definitely recommend ordering at least 10% more suites than you think you will need. ordering re-prints is very costly so it is best to order more from the get go for last minute invites, and if you end up with extras, you'll love having keepsakes! keep in mind that you should order invitations by the number of households, not the number of guests.

can i see a proof of my invitations?

definitely! i wouldn't expect you to trust me that much ;) for the pre designed invitation suites, all customers will receive a digital pdf proof of their invitations within 3-5 business days. included in the pricing is 1 revision round and 2 proofs. any edits and proofs beyond the one included will incur a $50 fee per revision. i definitely recommend getting at least one other person to help you look over the proofs for any errors. once the last proof is approved and we have sent everything to print and production, we are unable to make any changes and the client is responsible for payment of the original printed items as well as the re-printed items.

for custom orders, all customers will receive their first proof within 5-10 business days after we have discussed the design at length. there are 2 revision rounds and 3 digital pdf proofs included in the pricing. any additional revisions beyond those two will incur a $50 fee per edit. there will also be an additional fee if we decide to scrap the first design and start from scratch.

are the colors in my suite going to come out exactly like I see them in the pdf?

there is no constant when it comes to computer monitors, so colors may come out looking slightly different on paper than what you see in your digital proofs. if you have a very specific color you would like on your invitations, please give me the pantone swatch number and I can use that to match the color. even with the pantone swatch number, however, the printing process is inexact and may come out slightly different.

are letterpress and foil printing available for the pre designed suites?

definitely! the pricing for those printing methods are a little more nuanced which is why they aren't in the checkout. if you are interested in letterpress or foil finishing for your pre designed suite, please email emily@emilyahowell.com to get an accurate estimate.

what is the process for custom stationery?

- First we start with the consultation. i will have you send me any pictures you might have for inspiration and do your best to convey what you want out of your custom paper goods.

- next, i will give you an estimate on cost for the project based on our initial consultation. should anything else come up or if your ideas change after the initial consultation, your estimate may be subject to change.

- prior to any designing, a non refundable 50% deposit will be due.

- now the fun begins! together, we will begin by creating a pinterest board with all kinds of inspiration - fonts, calligraphy styles, colors and anything else that conveys the look and feel for the wedding. we will also discuss the wording for the pieces to fit your special event. from there, i will take 5-10 business days to start your initial design. i will send over the first proofs and you are able to make any minor changes to the design. there are 2 revision rounds and 3 digital pdf proofs included, and any additional revisions beyond those two will incur a $50 fee per edit. if we decide to scrap the first design and start from scratch, there will be some additional fees.

- once the final proof has been approved, the remaining 50% is due. after that has been taken care of, we are on to production!

- production can take anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks depending on the printing method. there are always expediting options available, please just let me know if that will be needed!

- after everything has been checked over by me, i will ship your lovelies off to you!

what is the process for the pre designed collection?

- place your order in my shop section for the suite you love making sure to select all of the drop down menu items during checkout. please refer to this page for all of your color and font choices!

post-production

can you address my envelopes?

of course! i love addressing envelopes! if you are doing the pre designed collection, just be sure to add that extra item in your cart, and if you are doing custom stationery, be sure to mention that in your contact form!

are you able to assemble my invitations?

absolutely! i can do as little or as much assembly as you want. the base pricing reflects no assembly at all - just shipping all items to you packaged separately (including the envelopes and envelope liners). for $2 per suite (plus cost for reply envelope postage), I can assemble the entire invitation for you, and for $1 per suite, i can assemble just the envelopes and liners.

how do you ship?

depending on the project, i primarily use USPS priority for shipping. expedited shipping is available for a fee. if you are outside of the us, that is no problem! as long as you do not mind paying the international shipping and customs fees, we are good to go!

refunds

what are your refund and cancellation policies?

for custom orders, if i have not yet sent your designs to be printed, i will retain only your 50% deposit. after the designs have been approved and sent to print, i reserve the right to the full amount of the invoice and i am unable to accommodate any refunds or exchanges since each item is unique and custom for you. if you notice any errors or need to make any changes after the design has been approved and is in production, it is your responsibility for payment of the original prints as well as any re-printing.

but, what if something goes wrong?!

i truly want you to be totally happy with the stationery you receive and send out to your guests so on the rare occasion that something does not turn out how you expect, please be sure to respectfully let me know if you are unhappy. i value the relationship we have and i know how much your wedding day means to you so i hope that you will come to me with any concerns and i will do my absolute best to try and work out a solution. thank you so much for choosing me!
